LC coils & panhard drop bracket...do I need to lengthen my connecting rods now?
I installed some Landcruiser coils in the rear of my 90 4rummer along with a panhard drop bracket. Now the lower control rod hits the gas tank. I have read that the mounts can rip off of the axle. Should I get some custom control rods made? If so how much longer should they be? And I guess I need to have a bend in the one by the gas tank. Possibly reinforce the mounts on the axle? Anybody know of replacement parts that would be longer? (possibly Landcruiser upper and lower links.) I want this setup not to break....and stop it from hitting the gas tank.

I have been doing research about this all day. All Pro makes them for the 3rd gen as well as Sonoran Steel but I cant find any for 2nd gen. I know that there will be problems when I take it offroad because I had a hell of a time getting the the Landcruiser springs in. the control arms were binding. I had to use spring compressor to get them in.

I`ll figure it out. I just thought that this would be the place to ask (and search) and that someone would have a part number for me. I found a place that makes them whatever size (length etc.) you want. Besides...I have stuff to sell and apparently I cant sell anything here until I post like 20 times. Maybe I will be a nice guy and give some info or part numbers after I get this done. Seems like its a pretty common mod and Im suprised nobody posted anything concerning control arms after getting almost 5 inches of lift with LC coils.

Junkyard Springs. They are supposedly out of a 95 LandCruiser. The upprer control arm hits the gas tank, (its only about 1 inch away at static height) One of the places I found for longer links is Man-A-Fre. Im not sure but I think the All Pro FJ links may work. going to call them right now.

www.ROKMEN.com they will make custom length with jonny joints for $299 (I havent called them yet.) I called man-a-fre and thiers are too long also

that rokmen place is a no-go (145 bucks an hour...I dont think so.) Im going to try Rustys offroad next. there is another place but the link was too long. Phone number for them is 1 888 365 6064. When I find the cheapest place I will post.

I'm no expert on the 2nd gen rear end but...
here is a thread about 2nd gen lifts:

I didn't do an exhaustive search of all 21 pages but I see alot of posters mentioning LC coils, but nothing about issues. However, I don't see any of them talking about 5 inches of lift either. Because of the greater amount of lift you have realized, perhaps it has thrown the rear alignment/tracking further off than a panhard drop bracket can accomodate.
This is 3rd gen info but I would think the geometry is similar. Look what Sonoran Steel says about panhard brackets.

Since you're in AZ I would give Steve a call to see if my assumption is correct in that you need more adjustability in your panhard. If the link is hitting the gas tank it strikes me that it is a side to side issue. Longer or shorter links won't change that. You need to get it lined back up properly.

Its not a side to side issue. Its up and down. I could go out there and beat the seam of the gas tank with a sledge hammer so it wont hit anymore...but I want this done right. There is no problem with the track bar drop bracket. Due to the amount of lift, the axle is pulled forward. The new control arms (or links) need to be about an1 inch or 1.5 longer (and preferably adjustable to re-set the pinion angle) I will figure it out. Thanks

before installing the LC springs I ordered the 4 inch panhard drop bracket. In all my reseach most gained 3.5 to 4 inches...so I assumed that was what I would get. The bracket is about 1 inch too short (which is no big deal) Im happy with the lift I have gained I just need to addresse the link issues and thought this would be the place to look for answers as to where to buy what I need.
