BOSAL complete 1-piece cat-back exhaust from PARTSGEEK.com

my truck is a 92 4x4.

needed a new exhaust, since I killed a weld 4 wheeling and then developed rot on the muffler. had to pull the truck from use until I could find a worthwhile replacement.

I thought of the usual suspects......had a configuration in mind using a glasspack or a 40 series muffler to get that good tone.

I SEARCHED and SEARCHED until I came across this one night (hopefully the link works for everyone....if not, search "BOSAL 286-219"...that is the part specific to my truck) http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/...gle+Base&fp=pp

I am "thrifty", "cheap", "frugal" and whatever word you want to use when it comes to spending money. I hate to spend money. I also hate the idea of paying someone to do stuff for me. especially since my feet are more than just a little wet after 2 builds. BUT, not having a welder and not knowing how to weld, my choices were to buy something and plumb it together with goop and clamps or pay someone to weld it.

when I found this for $73 delivered to my door, I knew it was worth a shot. If nothing more, it will get me inspected and back on the road. Hopefully, I will get a year or 2 or 5 out of it. if not, it's cheap enough and easy enough to do, that it won't be a huge pain in the butt, or wallet, to do it again.

no sound change, but I hear that gets annoying anyway.

disconnecting form the catalytic converter is a HUGE pain! but once I used all the tools I had and tricks I knew, I finally took the grinder to the nuts and cut them off and disconnected. after that it was a matter of cleaning up the connection a bit, throwing a leftover donut gasket on there, some new bolts and I was good to go.

this comes complete with all welds and bends and even the hangers are in the exact right spot.

basically this is an easy bolt-on fix.

for $73, I feel I done good.

3 days after I ordered it, it was sitting waiting for me. not so much on the packaging, but hey, so what.

after a little grinder action....

and it's good...no leaks....and this project is done.

hope this helps someone looking for an exhaust. this was the best price I could find.....others wanted over $100. I feel like I should get a few more and store them for the future....but I probably won't.

is it a performance exhaust, or is it just supposed to replace the stock one in case it breaks, needs to be replaced, etc?
