Airborne173rd's 1989 Xtra-Cab Build-Up Thread

Hey guys,
My name is Alex, and I currently serve the United States Army in Italy as a Sniper with the Recon Platoon of 2nd Battalion, 503 Infantry Regiment of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. I recently purchased a MINT CONDITION 1989 SR-5 Xtra-Cab V-6 4x4 pickup from a friend of mine. As I am currently stationed overseas, I haven't even had a chance to drive the truck yet, which is really disappointing, but that time will come soon enough. I have big plans for this little rig, and can't wait to start work on it. I want to add tube bumpers f/r, sliders, lockers f/r, SAS "eventually", 35's, winch, regear, and possibly dual cases in the end......From what my father, a mechanic, who has the truck now tells me, it is one of the cleanest Yota's he has ever see, and the pics show it. Just wanted to post some pics and see what everyone thought of it. Any opinions would surely be appreciated!! AND YES THIS IS MY FIRST POST AND I AM A NEWB, so if this is in the wrong section I sincerely apologise......Thanks Again.....AIRBORNE!

Hi Alex, welcome to YotaTech. Anything you want to know about your rig, this is the place to ask.

Have fun in Italy Trooper!

Saw a show the other day about sniper training. They followed a group of troops through the whole process. Very interesting stuff, you guys are amazing.

You have a beautiful truck waiting for you, too. This is just my opinion, but that truck is too clean to wheel. I'd show it off as a daily driver and pick up an older 4 cylinder truck to beat on.

Thanks for all you do.

That is a clean Extended cab. I restored one for my wife. It was rough, still doesnt look as good as yours. Great find.

I agree with Resto.. That is one I would keep to show.

I was stationed in Sharana, been back a year now. Ran into some of your group over there. I was on alot of different bases.

Clean truck! Try uploading your pics to a free hosting service like photobucket, than copy and paste the [img] code into you post.. They show up bigger than attachments

Thanks for serving, you got Airborne's dream post! Go Sky Soldiers
I was with the Long Range Surveillance Detachment, 106th MI, 6ID at Ft. Richardson, Alaska.

Thanks Dropzone, i was wondering how you guys did that. Im saavy with a wrench, or guns, but def not with a computer! YT seems like the place to be for Toyota 4x4 info.....I look forward to coming to the forum with a genuine issue that may happen with my truck in the future and can't fix on my own....But hopefully that won't ever happen..lol

Thanks for your service!
