I'm interested in purchasing an '87 pickup with a 2L-T motor. I have a lot of experience with 22R-E's but know nothing about 2L-T's. (or diesel motors in general) The vehicle in question seems to run and drive ok, but as soon as you go uphill it's gutless.....like down to 2nd gear while on the highway. Apparently the motor was rebuilt about 4 years ago and has sat for the last 3. So I'm wondering if 2L-T's are even any good to begin with and if so, where to I begin troubleshooting, or if I should just drop in a 22R-E?.....or maybe even something else?
BTW, the truck has a small lift and stretched frame with a full-size extended cab so it definatly weighs more than your average '87. A little extra power wouldnt hurt

If it's N/A, then thats why it feels so gutless.
