New Battery suggestions...?
I've searched and havent come up with much on this topic. Any recommendations?
I hear alot of good things about the Optima yellow/red top batterys, but they are pretty expensive and I'm not sure it's really needed in my case.
Thanks!

I prefer Optimas. If you don't want an Optima, I guess look for anything with a good warranty. Maybe a Diehard?

kragelb,
i got a champion gel cell battery for around $90 from sam's club. i took the recommendation to buy this from bumpin_yota who is quite knowledgable about car audio and batteries. it was about $20 cheaper than the optimas and performance-wise, no complaints.
look under step 3 of my write up here http://www.4runners.org/articles/dist/ to get a look at it.
i believe its a DX model or something like that.

Over the past month or so, I've pondered a new battery. Today's start-up convinced me to go in and get it checked. Allegedly it was "borderline". I opted for an Optima Red Top. I left with the original battery and my clothing full of mud and grease.
Reason being is that the new red top's posts are at the front of the battery (front being towards the bumper) - the cables wouldn't reach. The other rub was that the red top is half an inch or so shorter than the stock panasonic, so much so that the battery clamp wouldn't lower far enough to secure the battery.
I now have a orange top (red top with reversed poles) on order. Am debating what to do about the battery height. Am currently debating a plastic riser base vs. washers on the battery clamp.
Anyone else have to make any "modifications" to install a red-top (i could see cutting apart the abs hose that holds the wires together).

Thanks for all the replies thus far...!
I only put this in Maintenance because it seemed the best area at the time. I have no problem bumping it to the main forum however I'm not sure if we can transfer the thread or just start a new one?
Thanks again for the replies, I think I may go with the Champion from Sam's because it's close by...
