What options for rear lift springs with a 5" or 6" lift are there for an 88 4runner. I don't want 63" chevys because you still have to use lift blocks even after all that work. I don't want any lift blocks. I would like to find some good quality 6" lift springs for my sas'ed 88 and just use longer shackles if I need more lift.

Who makes good 6" rear springs?

 

????? I might have missed something, but IIRC with 63's you don't need lift blocks.

63 chevies with a 2" add a leaf?

 

kartek has lift springs for 6 in. but are made for spring under aplication. why not go with all pro 6" springs?

Trail Gear and All Pro both make 5" or 6" springs.

 

yeah, you still need blocks. 63"s only give 2" of lift with the weight of the 4runner on them. I have 4" lift springs in the front, so you can see why this won't work.

63" chevy springs give more than 2" dude.
Here's mine. 3+1 leaf pack from a 1500. You can a 4+1 from a HD2500.
3" body lift. Pretty much flat stock springs.

3" body lift. 63" chevy springs. Rear located front mount, stock rear mount with 6" shackles (i'd have to check).

 

What's the distance between the top of the rear tire and the top of the wheel well cutout? On my 4runner, there's 12" distance between the top of the tire and the fender cutout. It doesn't look like you have that much in the rear, even with that body lift. I'm assuming those are 33"s?

Just make your own long shackles for the rear or find some long ones, you will get axle wrap if you use blocks and less flex. My neighbor beats the living piss out of his and the longer shackles are the cheapest and most effective way to go, new 6" springs wont be great on flex, same with add a leaf.

 

In order to get 2" of lift out of a set of shackles they have to be about 4" longer then factory. That makes for one long shackle, then you have to deal with the major change in pinion angle. I think the best option is a set of 2" lift chevy 63's or all-pro springs that make you relocate them anyway. But I agree a standard 5-6" spring that goes into the OEM hanger etc etc isn't gonna flex very well and is gonna be harsh ride.

 

F-150's give about 4-5 inches of lift or so ive heard and are alot more durable then the Chevys might look into them. It's what I'll be doing to the rear of my little brothers truck when he finds a set

 

Incorrect. Use 63" chevies from a lifted truck, with a 4 leaf pack, and you're golden.

 

actually. he was correct. 63s on a 4runner only give about 2 inches. i should know. i drive one.

 

peow130 has the same idea I do, use chevy 63" lifted springs. If you want 4" use 2" lift springs, if you want 5" lift use 3" lift springs, if you want 6" lift use 4" lift springs. Or the 4 leaf pack like peow mentioned as well as on pirate's 63" FAQ thread are the OEM spring non-lifted for a 2500 series with the 63's.

 

i have 5inch 63's on the rear of my pickup with the 5"ifs eliminator kit and its level and it rides great!
