Engineshoppa's Build of 1990 dlx pickup.

Well I am starting this buildup thread to keep me motivated in getting this thing road worthy. Plus my better half is tired of it in the garage while the Yaris sits outside.

I purchased this truck as a wreck from a government insurance auction for cheap. It was rear ended and the box is toast. Flatbed and other work in progress, in order to pass Body integrity and Mechanical inspections.

START!:

Here are some plans I drew up for the flatbed'

WORK has began:

Had a good day today. Got the box off and took some more measurements.

Bed now in pieces so I can haul it away.

Not too much to update.

-Deleted EGR.
-Priced out steel for FLATBED.
-Bought paint and supplies for body work.
-Found past owner repair job on rockers.

-procrastinated a butt load.

I hate working out of a single car garage with poor lighting.
Enough of me whining, time to get back to work.

Long waited update.

It has been a long while since I got to work on Betsy. Moved cities hauled her with us and left my car behind.

Now with the need of another vehicle. Some progress has happened. On to some bad garage pictures.

cab corners replaced!

and new rocker panels.

After a quote for $5000 I tackled it myself. Panels weren't cheap but labour was.

Started sanding last weekend to prepare for primer then paint.
This is how it sat after a day of sanding.

This weekend I went backwards. I found a little rust coming from under the drip edge under the door. I did some research and found nothing so I sent Slacker a pm. He told me these are problem spots on our Toyotas. I am OCD about getting rid of rust so I decided to do some investigative surgery. Drilled the spot welds and pulled the drip edge off.

There was a lot hidden under there and my truck seemed to be in pretty good condition.
I cut it all out and welded in new metal. No pictures because my camera died. Thank you Slacker for helping me out. I'd rather do it right the first time rather than do it again.
