How can I do a rear disc brake swap with ifs calipers?

I have a TG rock assault axle housing I am getting geared up to do a disc brake conversion on, and I already have two ifs calipers off my 1990 4cyl pickup. In an attempt to do this cheap, is there a good combination of parts that let me use these?
I have read lots of threads on here about using older style solid axle calipers, but nothing about using newer ifs style calipers. Maybe it would just be cheaper to use gm calipers, but then I am stuck spending more for the conversion hoses, and I already have new brake pads for the toyota calipers.

Which rotors, and caliper brackets would work with this? I am not opposed to welding on the brackets if need be....

there are several write ups on doing a rear disc brake conversion.

what are your plans for an Ebrake?

If your trying to do a brake conversion cheap, what are you gonna do about the fact you loose your e-brake, there is no cheap options to restore it. And only very few ways to do it in order to keep a rig street legal. Line locks as an e-brake isn't legal in most states IIRC.

Dang, ocdropzone beat me to it.

E-brake is going to be electric line lock and transfer case brake. Not worried about that one bit. We don't have any legality issues here as far as that goes.

Life got a lot easier once I stopped worrying about technicalities of the vehicle law...

Also couldn't find anything on the FROR website other then their Tacoma products.

You are going to have to proportion the hell out of that to run those calipers. And, you'll lose pedal sensitivity due to the higher volume needed to push those big calipers.

Honestly, you'd be better off going to a junk yard and finding some calipers from an eldorado or montecarlo. Smaller, and require less proportioning.

I used 4 cyl IFS calipers on the rear with vented rotors, but that was with a full floater conversion too.

Big rear calipers defeat the point like Ike said above.

electric line lock will drain the battery,,, I suggest using the Ebrake cable method

Pirate 4x3

FREE line lock mod.

1.Take the first section of parking brake cable( the one that goes to the relay lever on the frame) unclip it and pull it back to the engine bay.

2. loop it over the brake booster

3. drill a hole in the firewall behind brake pedal, install cable with factory retainer clip

4. loop/tie/secure the cable to the brake pedal. (I usually tie it up and secure it with a ziptie or a small cable saddle)

Now ya got 4 wheel parking brake! Great for stopping on the trail in bad spots, or winching from outside the vehicle.

Easy FREE mod

Reviving a dead thread here.... I'll accept that I can't use the IFS calipers cus they're too big for the back, but what about the IFS rotors? Can I use those in the rear? I just finished my SAS last week and am trying to see what parts I can off the IFS.

how do you figure a 4cyl IFS caliper is bigger than the GMs???? I've had my rear GM disc conversion for like 5 years now, they're to big but it works. I use a manual prop valve and the stock w/ 1" master and a tcase brake.

Its pretty hard to lock all 4 up on dry pavement, maybe with a dual booster u could

Thought I read that somewhere. I just cut the IFS and I'd like to get it out of my yard before it snows. Just trying to decide which parts to keep/sell/scrap. I'll pry do the rear disc conversion next fall or spring. If I can use the IFS 4cyl rotors/calipers, then I'll keep them and use them. Otherwise I'll craigslist them.

Got lucky with the axle I bought, it came with V6 Calipers. So I'm running V6 calipers with the vented FJ rotors up front
