Are similar PCV valves interchangable for my 22RE Rebuild?

How's it going everyone? I am getting near the end of my 22RE rebuild on my 1988 4runner. I have two PCV valves. One that came with the truck that has no name, a little corrosion (very little) and some the plating is coming off. Kinda looks like a cheap aftermarket unit with no markings except 12211 on it. It seems to work fine (I can blow through one end, but not the other).

I also happen to have a pristine Aisin Japan PCV valve marked Toyota and 12204-31020.

They are very similar, but the Aisan is longer. It will fit in the grommet and the intake hose.

I have checked every post that says "PCV" and googled my question, but am not sure I can just use the Aisan PCV valve in place of the one that came with the truck. BTW, the Aisan is most likely leftover from an older 22R I had.

Thanks!

Its "Aisin" and the correct part is inexpensive at the dealer.

Try looking it up on online parts catalogue or cross reference at dealer.

I got one for $5 and change for my 3.0 tune up. It's cheap enough, just buy a new one so you're sure it's the right one.

If it fits just run it. They all do the same job.

wrong, PCV's are calibrated to open and shut at specific pressure/vacuum. This is why there is so many on the market that "fit". The "jiggle" valve weight is usuallly what is different.

Thanks everyone! xxxtreme 22r, that is what I was worried about.

I thaught it was Aisin too but the PCV valve is stamped "AISAN JAPAN" in all caps like that. Are these two different companies?

For around $5, I will get a new one! Sorry I didn't look at the price first.

yup... the weight and the springs make the difference... I only use OEM Toyota ones for this reason.... especially when you have to rip the passenger seat and floorboard to get to it (that's where it is on my van), you'd spend the extra dollars for a part you know won't fail for a long time my OEM one is all metal too.... I've yet to see an aftermarket like that (they are all plastic)
