This sound is horrible. I have an aftermarket exhaust on now, and when idling, you can hear the whine over the exhaust. When sitting in the driver's seat revving the engine, you hear the whine over the exhaust.

(You can't hear the whine at first. Wait until I reposition the camera away from the fan and more towards the side of the engine bay. The video does perfect justice to the sound.)

sounds like either power steering pump whine or alternator bearing noise to me
what is the fluid level and the condition of it?

 

Does sound like the PS pump--usually heard on Fords.

 

remove your belts one at a time then run it to see if the noise goes away. if not, i'd say one of the timing belt idler/tensioner pulley bearings is shot.

As others have said, something in the front. Candidates include power steering pump, alternator, fan bracket idler, A/C idler, or as oldblue pointed out, could be upper or lower timing belt idler, or even the water pump. Best tool for finding something like that is a mechanics stethoscope. They're cheap, available at any discount auto parts store. They have a long metal rod that you hold against what you want to listen to, and you can hear real well what the bearings sound like. You'll hear noise even from good bearings, but if a bearing is bad it's real obvious as the noise is terrible. Obviously, you have to be very careful keep the stethoscope, loose clothing and hair away from the moving belts. Running belts can grab things with stunning suddenness and violence. If you don't hear anything from the bearings in the fan belt area, more probably a timing belt idler.

Check your P/S pump fluid level 1st. You do use Dexron-rated ATF in there, right?

 

Or you can hold a screwdriver on one of the pully bolts while its running and put it up to your ear and see which one is loudest.
