off road basket or carrier for 92 EX CAB - pics please

Hello

not sure what to call them but does anyone have a metal carrier or basket mounted on top of an ex cab that I can also use as a light bar? I thought a saw a familiar forum member a while back, had an ex cab with an FJ tan paint job with one.

What companies should I look for and so on. Thanks.

Don't have any pics but I believe Granvillerunner (on here) has a Yakima rack on top of his 4runner and something like that would work fine for your truck. I don't know if he has lights on it or not but you can easily add some.

Yakima makes one, so does Wilderness and probably some others. I'll do some looking and post up some linkys for you.

Edit:
Wilderness. http://wildernessracks.com/roof_wild_tracks.html

You can make just about anything fit. I mounted a Wilderness rack off of a Ford 4 door to the top of my 4runner. You could also have someone make you a rack, or if you can weld and have the metal you can make one yourself. I've also heard of folks putting racks off of different vehicles and other model Toyotas on with some adjustments.

^^ Love that build, that bed is so sick.

I had a home made basket on my cap if thats any help to you. Made the truck too tall, always catching it on trees.

click on the "fit my car" link at the top of the page and go through the steps for a roof rack. it'll show you options at the end, and the more expensive one with the stretch kit is the one you want. you can go to ebay and find all the stuff a lot cheaper. also, thule has a similar system, but i don't know if they have a stretch kit. all that kit does is make it so you can mount the rack over the whole cab, as opposed to the front half

That right there is something to consider if you do a lot of forest trails and things like that. With the rack/spare tire/cans on top of mine it sits almost 8' tall. It tends to catch on things and I'm always worried about tearing a light off the top.

good point. I would prolly run it empty when wheeling, as our trails are wooded pretty good, but mainly use it for getting things to camp and some extra storage should I come across anything in the woods that might be fun to bring back. Also I am looking to mount my lights on a brush guard or nice bumper rather than up in the air now. Thanks for the input.
