I tried searching, but couldn't find what I wanted...so here goes:

CAN an HID kit in aftermarket housing be able to take the abuse of 4-wheeling? I mean, it can get pretty rough out there, and I'm not convinced that little HID bulb inside that housing can take it. I'm not talking about the built-in HID lights that were made that way, but an aftermarket HID kit installed in an aftermarket headlight housing.

Thanks! I want better lighting WITHOUT having to use auxilary lighting, but wasn't sure as to the "longetivity" of HID's bouncing around off road.

 

They make hids for for fogs/off-road lights. I think the bulbs should be fine.

 

It is not the bulbs you have to worry about it is the ballasts. I had a set of HID's in my Mustang and due to the rough idle and urethane engine mounts it killed my ballasts. So I will say no unless you buy the high quality off-road HID's from Hella or PIA.

My HID's have put up with any all vibration just fine... Maybe you should have gotten a quality conversion kit like these:

Yes, but those are MADE for off road lights. I was meaning an HID "kit."

I have a set of those DDM HID's on my Suzuki GSX-R. I would agree that they're a great price on a very good product.
