S&J Engines - Brand New 22RE

Anyone have any experience with S&J Engines? They're out of Washgington State and seem to have a real legit setup along with a sweet warranty. My buddy who works at Baxter Auto Parts in Portland highly recommends I go through them since their $1400 engine with brand new casting head is the same price as just the machine work on my existing engine.

Any personal experiences or friend/family experiences?

I would greatly appreciate any info! The google search doesn't return anything of use

Yeah. I'm not super worried about it. The warranty is legit and they're not far away if I need to get a full new engine. It would be a pain in the ass but my own personal labor doesn't cost too much

Yeah. I'll double check on that. Heads are pretty easy to change out too though.

Have you tried sunwest engines out of Medical Lake, Wa.?? Don't know how their warranty is compared to them, but I'm sure it's worth taking a look at. Their engine of the month special is the 22re.......

Just did now that you said that. Looks like price is identical for a 22RE that has a new head casting.

Sunwest and s and j engines are both good. I have a buddy in washington that bought one from sunwest and he hasn't had any problems and is real happy and I have a buddy here in idaho that bought one from s and j and his runs good and he's really happy with it so either one of those is a good buy as far as I can tell.

Just dropped in a sunwest engine, new head, rv cam, 1000 miles on it now, runs perfect. they have pretty good support, they wont charge you core $ up front. Good warranty as well.

Got the performance 22re from sunwest in mine.
Cam, new head, oversize valves, port and polish, yadda yadda.

Videos in my build thread. About 12k on it with no problems.

Don't know about Sunwest, I suppose he will speak up. But just to share, my OTD price from S&J was $1400 with an RV cam and remanufactured Toyota head. (I don't like the idea of a made in china "new" casting head)
