88 4runner TRE hits frame and pitman arm

This is my first toyota. It has the rancho 3" lift and downy slip yoke axle shafts that were sold years ago to give a long travel front suspension. I don't plan to use it hard offroad. Mostly it will be a daily driver so I don't want SAS it.

When I got it the TRE adjusters had very little thread on the TREs and one pulled out on a easy trail. I did some research and found that toyota corona had the same ones just longer so got a set and installed them. Now I have about an inch of thread in each one. The problem is they hit the pitman arm and the frame that holds the diff. I have no ideal what to do. $20 paypal reward if someone can come up with a fix I can do myself that will work long term.

Maybe more pics would help. These are all the drivers side and the marks in the middle of the adjuster are from a pipe wrench I used when putting it on.

Ok right now I have NO IDEA how to fix that without seeing it. Can you post a pic of the entire front suspension, about a foot off the ground and 3 feet from the front? Might help me with my geometry thoughts.

Edit~ Just went and looked at my front end and I think I got it. The rods that run from the steering to the TRE's and adjuster are bent to miss all the frame work. On yours (since it's a long travel) those bent parts are no longer in the right spot. Perhaps some longer "bent" pieces?? I have no idea what they are called but will do some looking and let you know.

EditX2~ Maybe you could pull the entire TRE assembly off of the steering rod and swap the ends? I mean put the TRE that is in the spindle into the steering rod and adjust it so the bend is in the right area on both sides??

Take the lift off and go back to stock. It's shot and worn out from the looks of all the rust. Needs some definite TLC.

Those rancho arms are "long travel" yes, but they do not change track width. Did the relay rods change in 88? because my relay rod doesn't look like that and maybe his is too short. Which would explain why the adjusters for the TRE's were too short. Or the Inner TRE are the wrong ones and are too short. Notice how his Relay rod is squared off where as mine is rounded. Also notice how far my inner TRE is outside of the frame rails. IE the bend in the inner TRE should happen after it gets past the PITMAN and the IDLER arms. Maybe he's got a 2WD relay rod in there or 2WD inner TRE's?

MY relay rod or center link is the rancho one which puts the holes for the inner TRE closer to center.

?
Go out and get yourself a stock relay rod and see what happens.. The bends in the TRE's will magically be back in the correct position and they will clear the idler and pitman arm again..
Give it a shot....
