Hella lights - very simple question, please reply!

So I am all set to wire up my hella's, when I realize I don't know which wire on the lamps are positive and which are negative.

Please help, there is a blue wire and a black wire, and while logic dictates black is negative, my wiring kit supplied a black wire to go to the positive battery terminal!

Thank you!

Quite the opposite.
Hella black is power, and Hella blue is ground.

Please see my write-up from the Tech section.

Look for the scanned JPG in the article, and it will show you.

Thank you! Thank you!

I thought blue was ground when I opened up the lamp, with how it was attached to the bulb/socket. Awesome! Thanks again!

You are welcome Play.

Trick, the '91 truck is the same as the '91 4Runner grille and head lamps.

I got my Euro housings from C4WD.
Note that the ones on their site are the Vision Plus.
Same thing, only mine are not DOT approved because they don't have the nubs on the lens which an aiming machine adaptor hooks upto.

I like the lights, but Danial Stern also carries a housing which lets you change the H4 bulbs just like these.
His claim is they are better.
Contact member Churnd on the forum here.
I think he has 'em, and also the bulb that Danial recommends.

I have a set of headlights that let you change out the bulbs (H4's) from my old 92 Toyota PU. They are the Hella Vision Plus (I think thats what they were called at least) and are in great shape. They are DOT approved and are simple to install and aim. I assume these will work for yours. PM me and we can work something out if you're interested.

They aren't Piaa brand. I think they are Sylvania lights... but don't quite remember. Just remember paying $20 a piece for them.
