So Cal 4th gen 4runner owners

My parents are looking into getting a 4runner with the x-reas suspension. They emailed Temecula Toyota with a price ($100 over invoice) and they called back and said X-reas isn't available in this area and the closest place is in colorado. If they ship from Colorado the dealer would tack on an extra $400 shipping fee.

This doesn't sound right to me, anybody out there from SoCal or in the neighboring states have X-reas suspension? And what do you think about this extra $400 shipping charge?

Thanks,
Steve

Did you have to pay extra to get it? Like shipping it from colorado?

I've never seen another Sport Edition around here, but that doesn't mean anything.
I did not have to pay extra, nor would I have.

I went through a service through my credit union so I just asked for what I wanted and got it the next day. There were no problems locating the car.

Mine came from Puente Hills Toyota-even though I never met them. I don't even know where the dealer is.

Symes Toyota in Pasadena is ok. Maybe call them to see if they have any Xreas 4R's?

good luck

So CA XREAS

It's true .... you almost can't get XREAS in Southern California. You can only get it in the Sport Edition as it is stock...not an option.

I investigated this when purchasing my 2003 SE 4x4 V8. I wanted a LTD with XREAS and couldn't find one anywhere. I ended-up getting a So CA rep at Toyota that said that the buyers for the So CA dealerships simply decided that it wasn't a necessary option to offer in this area. So they didn't buy them. I didn't want to hassle with getting a CO car or elsewhere, so I purchased an SE. I believe Arizona and Nevada are included in that you can't get an SR5 or LTD with XREAS.

XREAS is definitely a great option. It makes a big difference. I have driven a LTD extensively without it, and my SE handles significantly better. And it rides better.

2004 SE 4X4 V8 - Glendora

I had trouble finding mine but just picked it up last weekend. I found that all the services that look for cars for you didn't do anything. What made it happen was going to multiple websites of individual dealers and submitting a request.

I thought the XREAS was worth it without a doubt. I just drove the Angeles Crest Hwy yesterday and I was really impressed. I haven't been offroad yet but I am looking forward to it.

All I can say on the dealers is that Carson had a few with XREAS and Glendora had a couple. I got lucky with mine because it was a special order that someone didn't want.

Good luck.
