Hey Guys,

so i have run in to a bit of a brick wall with this one...

I have just done the head gaskets on my 3zve.. installed some rebuilt heads, new gaskets and bolts etc etc. Also had my radiator rebuilt. Have installed a new thermostat, and drilled a hole in it to ensure no air blockages when bleading the coolign system. It also appears that the fan clutch is working, as it "roars" when you first start the car and i can hear it cutting in and out..

Now.. i can have the car running in the drive way and rev it etc and it sits at normal operating temp.. but.. if i go for a drive around the block, the temp climbs in to the red! both radiator hoses are hot, tho the top one isnt as hot as the bottom one. I belive i have blead the cooling system correctly.
Im stuck as to what to do next. i was thinking about running with out the thermostat to see if that makes a difference. only other thing is maybe the water pump aint happy?

any ideas guys? im getting close to pushing it out on to a main road and leaving it there!

i would see about parking where the front is higher and let it cool a little pull cap and let it run, let it cycle a couple times and run the heat inside the truck. see if u have air in the system or if the water pump is not moving the water it should.. when u did the work did u pull the water pump?

Nar, i didnt pull the pump, as it was replaced about 8 months ago.

 

ok.. so i have run the car with out the thermostat, and it seems ok! ... so either im bleeding the system wrong. or there is something wrong with the thermostat. I have watched the thermostat open in boiling water. but... looking at the manufactures web site for the thermostat, i notice they also sell a hi flow one..
