stripped the bolt on my Transmission fill...Alternate Fill method?

...after I drained the transmission

I'm getting ready to leave for a trip from TX to AZ for Overland Expo so I changed the oil, then I decided to change the f/r diff fluid, then I figured why not do the transmission?

Lesson learned, from now on I will crack open the fill before I attempt to drain any fluid on my truck! Now what the hell do I do. Please tell me there's an alternative filling point?

Vehicle is an 87 4runner: 22re & W56. If I don't fix this tonight, it looks like I'll have to take the Highlander which makes which almost makes my trip to the Overland Expo pointless

Not hard to get off.
Do a quick search and see the many ideas that have been posted.
Im not even going to bother posting, because it can be found easily.

Been there done that. I re-tapped and used a larger plug.

When you say stripped do you mean the head of the plug?
If so, fill it through the shifter.

x2 on filling through the shifter...just keep track of how much you put in..
and remember to fix it when you get back...

FWIW - It didn't sound sarcastic to me.

I fill my trans via the dipstick. I know you have 87 but is it an option to fill the trans where the dipstick is? Just an idea. I don't know if you even have a trans dipstick. Just trying to help.

If you stripped the head you can try putting a pair of vice grips on it really tight. Then go grab yourself a new plug from a junkyard or hardware store. If you stripped the thread do like pistolbob said: retap and use larger plug.
