Hi guys, I'm pretty new to yotatech being I just picked up my 85 4runner. The truck came with a spare 22ret engine out of a 86 4runner. The search has helped alot but I didn't see an answer to my question

Will a 22ret (turbo) ecu from an automatic work on a mtx?

from what i have been told, no it wont.

but no one was able to tell me why.

so, anyone else?
i have always wondered this question.

 

In one of my searches I came across a post about a atx to mtx swap where they mentiond making the computer think it was in nuetral or park. Is that along the lines of what needs to be done to make the ecu work?

 

while I'm thinking of it does anyone have a pinout for the 22rte ecu.
