93 PU 4WD 22RE fuel pump fuse

Hello
My truck has recently been giving issues with both electrical and fuel system.
Started about 2 wks ago driving home from work after about 40 mins of driving, the truck threw the battery light and the amp guage dropped down, but still above half way or about 13 amps and also a burnt alternator type smell. Alt belt still in tact and tight, alternator turn freely and no bearning noise. The truck kept running and I drove it home and parked it and went away for a week. After returning, I started it up and it ran fine, no red lights or check engine.
So I drove the truck to work, ran fine going, but coming home shut down at about the same range/location - 40 mins- (hope there is not a bermuda triangle type situation in that stretch of road lol). Seemed like the fuel pump cause it shut down gradual like running out of fuel. Anyway I smelled a similar burnt electrical smell too and checked the EFI 15 amp fuse under the hood. It was blown. Replaced the fuse and the truck started up fine, ran for about 1 minute and shut down again. Found another blown fuse. What should I be looking for to solve this blown fuse issue?
Troubleshooting steps taken:
checked all wiring from fuse panel to intake, around fuse panel and all grounds, all OK
check 02 sensor wiring and its good, no shorts or burnt wires on exh pipes
checking the ECU now, but need help testing it, since the burnt smell inside cabin was so strong, figured that may be the culprit.
after disconnecting ECU wires it did have an odor but not strong. the carpet in that area is also wet but not sure the dampness or water involved theECU. since the truck has more than 300k miles, thinking i may go ahead and replace both the fuel pump with new one and the ECU with a used one.
