86 toyota pickup sr5 sometimes runs like crap

Bought an 86 toyota pickup sr5 a few weeks ago. It has a 22re EFI with a 5 speed trans. The motor was completly rebuilt 20k miles ago. The problem its having is when you crank it up in the morning and drive down the road at first it kinda spits and sputters but once it gets over three grand it clears up and runs fine but if u stop and shut it off and go to crank it back up it trys to shut back off and if you give gas with it out of gear it just bogs down. if you start tappin the gas after two or three minutes it starts to clear up and you can pull off and once you get to three grand it clears up again and then it runs just fine. I just dont understand whats goin on with it! Please give me some insight. thanks

I just replaced the fuel filter, according to other posts my maf may be bad causing the fuel pump relay to kick on and off. Does this sound correct?
