Aftermarket liftgate shocks - have you used some??

I took 1 of my old shocks off and the rubber grommet that keeps the pivot at the top tight and quiet is falling apart.

If you've already replaced these with aftermarket shocks, did you find new grommets somewhere?!

I just got 2 of these from Amazon for $47.50 delivered...

StrongArm 4286 Toyota 4Runner Liftgate Lift Support 1996-02

I asked the Toyota parts counter and they showed me the screen, they don't ever sell them separately from the shocks!

I'm thinking most used ones I could find, would be falling apart as well...

I've dealt with this very same issue.
Dealer told me same thing (if want the bushings, need to buy entire strut too).

I bought some replacement struts from Rock Auto (Monroe brand) hoping that the
bushings would be included (unfortunately they weren't) BTW, Rockauto.com has GREAT customer service, prices, and super fast shipping (no, I don't work there). My Monroe replacement rear hatch struts ran about $38 (incl shipping).

IF ANYONE out there has any tips on finding the rear liftgate shock bushings/grommets PLEASE let everyone know! Thanks

I was wrong, it's not rubber. It's a hard plastic sleeve, it just had some much grease and dirt on it, it felt rubber.

Just wondering,
Did someone figure out or find something on how to resolve this? I just installed some after market struts on my 99 4Runner and bushings are shot.

any response would be appreciated....
