3rd Gen 4runner rims: which one?

Okay, so it's about time for new tires on my 4runner and I'm looking at possible changing out the rims on it at the same time. I've come across two different ones.

The first one are the 16" off the 4th gen 4runner and the second are the 16" rims off a Tacoma. Has anyone seen either one of these rims on a 3rd gen 4runner and any pics if so. The rims from the 4th gen I've had a hard time getting the seller to return calls, texts or emails and the Tacoma ones I came across tonight.

Tacoma Rim

I'll do some searching on this forum as well.

ya know, the FJ TRD wheels look pretty badarse lol

out of these two, i'd pick the 4th gen wheels up top.

simply because i like the smaller spoke design.

my favorite wheel is the KMC XD Badlands lol

Thanks for the link kiyobrown.

I'm just wondering if he is running spacers on it. They don't look that bad.

I never found a rig sporting the other rims. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Both are pretty decent.

honestly, I think neither one...your stockers, if they are the 4runner 3 split spoke style or the limited style 5 spoke look much better.

The rims on the Highlander (green) cleared the 231mm Tundra brakes without a problem or spacers when we bolted them to the '96 (blue) to check for that.
I am not running spacers on the Highlander with LT265/75r16 (bigger than in pic) tires with a little rub at full lock.

Replied to your PM too, no spacers needed and I am running the 199mm Tundra brakes too.

Just picked these up tonight! Pattycakes77, was looking at your profile a few weeks ago which caused the main 'click' in my head for me to search for some! Good thing knowing you're running the 199mm brakes because I am too, lets hope they fit okay!

you might try simply painting your existing rims-several of us have done that and they turned out just fine.

I like those Taco rims myself.

Same here. I was debating which later model wheels to get until I saw the photos of Pattycakes Runner. Those photos made the choice easy.

The seller of the 4runner rims is MIA. I've come across a couple other of the Tacoma rims but they either sold fast or they want alot of $$ for them.

So I'm wondering if the 16" rims off of an 80 series will fit 265/65/16

16" LC rims

I'm thinking of putting snow tires on my stock rims and getting new ones for the rest of the year.

Anyone know the $ range that new 2010 Tacoma rims go for? I have a chance to buy some with new tires on them...

Tire and rims set came straight from the dealerhip off a 2010 Toyota Tacoma TRD. I bought them last week for them for my 4runner, but I have decided to stick with my stock rims set. Tires have 11 miles on them go for $750 after tax, mount and balance at Costco. Rims are $150 each.

This is a $1350 set for only $850 ...BFG Rugged Trail 265/70R16 ....Brand new, still have stickers and paint on them

Talking 80 Series LC Rims........

Made a road trip up to Logan tonight to pick up a set of 80 series rims. The owner had boughten a spare 80 series that he's slowing parting out to use on his other 80 or selling parts at random. The rims came up the other day for sale and I decided what the hay I'll go for it. So tonight these are sitting in my apartment:

Rim 1 (this was the spare):
Name: 101_0104.jpg
Views: 5816
Size: 63.5 KB

Rim 2
Name: 101_0102.jpg
Views: 5841
Size: 43.3 KB

Rim 3
Name: 101_0101.jpg
Views: 5643
Size: 54.4 KB

Rim 4
Name: 101_0100.jpg
Views: 5737
Size: 43.9 KB

Rim 5 (this is the worst of them, pitted and missing a small chunk of metal near the weight)
Name: 101_0097.jpg
Views: 5686
Size: 47.0 KB
Name: 101_0098.jpg

So right now I'm debating to just clean them up the best I can then go ahead and have them mounted when I get my new tires put on or have them sand blasted then powder coated. The crappiest of the rims may just get used as a spare or I may not do anything with it.

All the tires are 245/75/16 except the spare which is a 265/75/16, three of the tires I plan on keeping and selling (may keep the tire that's on the spare and use that as my spare tire). The other two tires will be trashed, one has a rip in the sidewall.

Poll:

Clean them up and mount them as is

Sandblast and then powder coat (gun metal color, need suggestions on this one if I go this route)

This is one of those what am i thinking moments.
