converting rear heater to front

Just curious if anyone has ever reversed the rear heater so it blew up front. Wouldn't be too hard, just un-bolt and flip it so the vents point forward. I just wanted to see if anyone had pictures of this done.

pretty sure it would be a little more work than just flipping it around, the coolant lines would need to be worked with too,

You can`t just unbolt it and turn it around, you would have to cut a new hole in the floor for the coolant lines, then modify the coolant lines to hook them up. And by turning the heater around it won`t fit in the console and it still won`t blow any air to the front. If the heater in the dash isn`t working, just fix it, its not that hard.

I thought the rear heater was electric! Had no idea it had coolant lines running to it. In dash heat works, it just never hurts to have more in -35 Celsius.

Winter will be done soon anyways haha.

You can buy 12 volt electric heaters that plug into the cigarette lighter, that would be the easiest to use. The mojave heater has to be hooked into the heater lines to work.

A cigarette lighter will only provide like 175w of power. You're not going to get much heat out of them honestly. You might be able to defrost a portion of your windshield, but I don't see it doing much at -35. You can get larger electric heaters that'l pump out 500+ watts of heat, but it will also put a strain on your electrical system. Your best bet is to just use the waste heat from your motor that's already there rather than burning energy making more. An aux heater that plumbs into your coolant lines can be had for 200 bucks or so at Princess Auto if you're so inclined.

Why not just get some dryer ducting or similar, and duct the rear heater to the front?

I also thought of that. I was just curious if anyone had done it.

Ya rear heater. PITA! Be prepared to run new hoses if you do anything with them. You will be cutting them off. I just decided to delete mine when doing my motor swap, but i would probably want to run it up front if i was in -35 temps too!
