have motor need mechanic - 3.4 swap Dallas area
Hi Guys,
I need a mechanic1 I have a '94 manual trans 4Runner with a siezed 3.0 engine. I need a mechanic to swap out the motor for a 3.4 and get me back on the road.
I'm ready to pull the rigger on ths one. I need someone (preferably reliable) to get started on the job!!
I need a some numbers and references. Does ANYONE have any recommendations in the DFW / North Texas area?
Time to make a Happy New Year with a my 4runner back on the road!!
Let's get'r running!

Just curious how much do you have in the budget for this project??
Have you ever done any swaps before your self?
How long a turn around are you looking for??
These questions answered may help you get responses .

I'm budgeting cash. The first estimate from a responsible shop in the area (not familiar with swaps as far as I know)would be to install another 3.0 and not swap, but it includes a rebuilt motoer and all the extra details, pushing 5-6k.
I think they estimated the replacement motor at around 3k, so a decent shop should be somewhere under that. How much is a job like this worth??

I've never done a swp before, nor do I have the tools or area in my garage to do the work.
Turn around is somewhat open, I'd like to have the vehicle returned in a reasonable time and that can be discussed upfront. I realize this could take a couple weeks, depending on the a variety of factors. For the right guy or shop, I'm good with a turn-around time of a month or so. What would be the right time depends on who is doing it.
Thanks for asking!
John
