Retrofit Tach Wiring Help
Hey all, I'm a stickler for needing to know what's going on in my vehicles, and not having a clue on most of the vitals on my 92 xtra cab (automatic, v6), is killing me. I have a mini generic tach that I used in my 67 impala, and the wiring it in isn't really an issue, but which wire on the ignition system to splice into is the problem. My Haynes manual was less than informative in the wiring diagram section, so I was wondering if you guys could help me out as to which wire to splice the tach onto. Also, if wanting to I stall an additional coolant temp guage, (for the exact graduated number) in conjunction with the factory guage in the cluster (keep both operational) would I use the stock yota sending unit -wiring and splice it to the new guage? Or do I need to find a place to install the new guages sending unit? Where is the temp sending unit? Ps, as a side note, what is typical winter gas mileage with the auto/v6 that you guys have gotten? I realize my 31x10.5's do decrease it, but 400 km to a tank when driving nice is brutal (I sea foamed the intake). Thanks guys, cheers!

i want to say its the positive side, the way to figure it out is pull plug and use a volt meter and see.. as for the coolant gauge i would say that u would have to install the sensor that came with the gauge and not the factory one. might send different volts to run it.
