Feels like I only have 1 cylinder!!
I have an 89 22re with a k&n kit on it. Every time it gets wet outside it feels like Im only running on a couple of cylinders up to about 3 grand then takes off like a turbo lol I thought it might be the plugs and wires so I put bran new ngk's and bosh wires. No help so I went to the junk yard and picked up a new mass air flow the part numbers are the same and still runs like crap. The cap and rotor have minimal wear I don't think it's that and I don't think the timings off cuz it ran fine before the rain. Any ideas I'm fresh out and it's so hard being in the service and trying to keep up with my truck as it is. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks and merry Xmas.

Well this is crazy I haven't had any time to work on the truck since the holidays and I started it up and took it for a spin on this nice sunny day and what do you know no lag this is really tripping me out.

get rid of all the aftermarket crap.
Bosh wires are junk, run the factory ones. They last for 10 years. regardless of how dirty they get or what your buddy says, run the factory wires.
Dump the K&N air filter and get a factory one, again, regardless of what your buddy says. There is such a thing as too much air. try taking an air filter cover off of a carbeurated motorcycle and running it, it will do exactly what your truck is doing, just more exaggerated. Not only that but the K&N works off of the "snot theory" similar to how our noses work. It's letting more crap into the system because of larger pore holes, gunking up the inside of your intake.
You bought a Toyota because they last longer then anything else. The engineers know what they are doing, use their stuff
