possible new marlin t-case!

well, not quite a new transfer case, but a kit that takes the twin stick idea 1 step further on a toyota t-case. marlin is working on making a case that can shift independently through front/4x4/rear wheel drive with one stick, and high/low/neutral with the other. the price is supposedly going to run around $900, definitely something i'll keep an eye on

here's the thread over at marlin crawler:

I don't get it.....it has one stick that has hi low n, one stick that has f/r/4x4...that's still a dual stick...it just has front wheel drive as an option, which I know we all desperately need...??????

IF you read more about it, its designed for the competition crowd. They will get good use out of having front wheel drive to get up and around obstacles.

I look at it this way, if you don't "get it" than you probably don't need it.

I'd be interested just for the Tundra output shaft. While I haven't broken a stocker, nor an All-Pro, stronger is better.

Which is why I asked in the current PBB thread about making a non-FWD version of the kit...

Stick one:
Front drive low-neutral-high

Stick two:
Rear drive low-neutral-high

Tighter turning, best used with cutting brakes.

For most people, gross overkill. Even in Moab, likely the most traction people wheel on, I felt I could turn enough just disengaging the ARB up front and back.

Nope, it's like this in the Toy case he's developing

Left stick:
low-neutral-high

Right stick:
Rwd-4wd-Fwd

There is no way to drive the front and rear axles at different speeds in the Toy transfercase. It's either driven or not driven, all Marlin is adding is the ability to "disconnect" the rear output which creates a front wheel drive mode. Yes, with cutting brakes and front wheel drive you can turn on a dime.

You have a totally different transfercase. This kit is for 4cyl gear driven cases pre '95.5

Good thing I put that alien guy in there! I actually didn't read much up on the new case, so I don't feel too dumb for saying that!

. . . except, then my post was totally out of context, in which case, didn't belong here to begin with!

*putting shovel back in shed*

(If you wouldn't have quoted me, I could've easily enough just deleted the damn thing! )

Thanks for clarity Shane, I was having a brain blip or thinking of a different case.

Would a twin sticked 300 be that way?

If not, I am wrong and will delete my post to reflect clarity.

The Atlas transfercase has that pattern although I'm not sure if it allows one to be in high and one in low at the same time.

Leave your posts guys, deleting them only serves to break up the thread and make things confusing. I'm sure many people are wondering the exact same things.

900.00 bucks would be a deal for a kit like that. I can't wait till it comes out. All my jeep buddies have like three grand in their "ATLAS" Sounds like this does the same thing if you have the low gear sets for the case.

Or better if you run duals. With stock gears, duals are 5.20:1 with a little more choice in that you still have 2.28:1 available. I've got about $1100 invested in my cases (not counting the adapter to my odd-ball tranny). As a result, I've got dual 23-spline turbo cases with the All-Pro output. About the strongest combination out there but I could always use more with 2600ft-lbs of torque available out of the tranny.
