Valve Shims

Can someone tell me what Diameter the valve shims are on a 96 3.4.
I want to make sure I get the right ones and see that there are different diameter shims for Toyota.
Thank you

Different diameter shims?
Um, Different height shims yes. But the diameter will all be the same for a certain engine.

At that point, you need to pull your VC, measure clearances, and then order the proper shims for the job.

I found some for sale but there are different diameter ones. I figured if I can get an assortment cheap enough I wouldn't have to tie up my truck waiting to order them. I know I have 1 ticking . This is my only vehicle right now also.
Some are 25mm, 28mm, 34mm.
In fact here's the link so you can see what I mean. None of them say what engine they are for.

Gotcha. Just read a post on pirate saying the 3.4 ones are smaller diamter then the 3.0 ones. The 3.0 ones in your above link say they are 34MM. So 28MM or 25MM is my best guess.
Good luck.

There's more than those three sizes too.

There's 14mm, 25mm, 27mm, 28mm, 31mm, 33mm, and 34mm. See the link below.

I don't know which of those sizes Toyota/Lexus/Scion engines, besides the 3VZ-E, use . I can only tell you for sure that the 3VZ-E does use 34mm shims though.

EDIT: All those lots on ebay are either used, or contain some used, shims. In case you hadn't looked at them carefully. I wouldn't buy any of them myself. There's no telling what you'll get, and it might end up the ones you'll need will be ones that are in poor/worse condition.

Thank you for the link to the new ones, I found some other sites too. What I'll end up doing is asking whichever one I decide to buy them from. I figure that even paying the price for an assortment I am still way below what it would cost at the dealer to have them done plus I have done them before on a 3.0 and they are not that bad to do.
Thank you

28mm Valve Shims

Since, I'm new to YotaTech I can't start a new thread.
I'm looking for someone who has used 28mm valve shims for sale or would like to trade for 25mm shims.

I used to road race and have many 25mm in-between size shims, such as 268, 272, 278, 282, 288, 292, 298, and the normal 5mm step-sizes.

I'm looking the (27.92mm) 28mm x 290 and 300, and of course if you have the in-between sizes, all the better.

Please contact me through this thread or text 509.4526263 in Yakima, WA.
Thanks, Bob...
