Mikekunath594's 1988 Single cab build up
I bought this 1988 pickup shortbed with a 22re, Probably one of my biggest mistakes was buying this. it had a 6 foot fisher plow decent body work. however everything else is toast. Lets keep in mind here that i'm 17 years old. go easy on me lol.
This is what it looked like when i bought it. i tried to wheel it with the plow frame and it just wasn't having it.

had a nice fisher plow...

after driving the truck around for a little while i realized it had a problem. actually a couple. the motor was knocking, and leaking oil from everywhere, the trans was missing a couple sycros, and the t-case was alright. the rearend made a kind of thunking noise when you go down the road, the rear has different sized shackles and different springs? the steering box leaked.

I set off to fix all problems.

First i pulled the motor, trans, and transfer case at once.. This was not one of my best ideas.

I had a parts truck with a rotted frame that i plan on taking everything from. it was a 92. Obviously this poses a problem with the wiring harnesses. figured itd be easier to take the body off to remove the motor.

It was no easy thing to put the 92 motor into the 88. i had to;
-Change the injectors because of there impedance differences.
-Change Coolant sensors
-Splice injector wires
-New injector gaskets
-Change cold start injector
-change and modify Throttle position sensor
-rewire most sensors
the list goes on. wasn't easy for my first motor swap.
Finally got the motor in and running though.

got a new aluminum radiator

freshened up the 92 rearend.

Changed my front end around a little bit. not sure if i really like it. also got some 36x12.5 super swampers a little large.

found tons of bondo on my bed...wasn't too excited

slapped a flatbed on it. i like the look more than the rotten bed. tires really dont rub that bad.
