Totaled last night... Now what?

Last night my 85 'runner was rolled about 5 times. I'll post pics later. Crazy thing is, she started and drove out!

I need some input:

Assuming the frame is good, would it be better financially to find a non-running 1st gen and swap bodies? Would any 1st gen work? Could I throw a pickup body on?

Barring body, what can I expect to profit parting from out?

the pickup cab will bolt on directly but youll have to get creative for the bed mounts, also 2nd gen 4runner body will fit as well as 3rd gen cab.

put a pickup cab on er and flat bed the back

Someone here rolled their first gen and put a 2nd gen body on it. He wanted 4 doors but if I remember correctly it was pretty straight forward

With Blake.........flat bed it. All kinds of options to play around with there on different/usable ways to put on a flat bed.

I would just find a new truck. You could sell the front axle $200-250 maybe?? Maybe you could get another $500-600 from the drive train?? Then what ever interior parts you have you could sell. Parting out a truck inst always as fast as people think.

You know what would be crazier? If it didn't start and you couldn't drive it out!

Mine started right up too after it rolled and snapped the frame in two. I drove it down to the main road even with the frame in two pieces. Would have drove it the 100+ miles home too, if it still had a windshield. I didn't wanna get a ticket for that.

But seriously, I've seen several other Toyotas that have been rolled, some multiple times. All still started up and were driveable afterwards. And that's no bull!

Here's what I'm talking about as in still driveable Toyota.

my toyota still started and drove up onto the trailer after it ate up the #2 rod bearing.....after it had already been knocking BAD for about 5 miles....it was a very SUDDEN occurrence. no sign of anything...good oil full of oil. good pressure...all the sudden BOOM a bad knock.

drove off the trailer and onto my property...then after sitting for a few weeks..drove into my garage lol

i've seen a lot of rolled toyota's start up and drive just fine.

i've also seen a lot of other vehicles start up just fine...but haven't seen many drive off fine.

Indeed! Ummm...not too much more to say about that. Except yes it's true, even I can, and do, foul up on ocassion. Sometimes in a stupendously colossal manner too! I just pick up the pieces and move on. And definitely try not to make a habit of it.

BTW, my scrap tire pile's bigger than yours.

my buddy rolled his 1st gen pickup 4 times and sometimes still drives it at night around the backroads. No windshield and the cab is destroyed but she still runs good. Can't kill em.

I would just get another 2nd gen runner body. I'm not into flatbeds.

2nd gen body on your good frame / drivetrain.

Here's a fellow going to the 4 door.

ouch.........can't kill 'em, but don't look like was for lack of tryin'. Looks like good chance frame's still in good shape, not the same to be said about body. Had a 94 22RE truck with just a 4" lift and a set of 31x10.5x15's on it. Pulled a newer dodge out of a pretty good size mud hole after he had laughed at my "toy" as he called it. I then proceeded to turn around and run back through that bog. Spun a main bearing. Drove it several miles and later that night, started it up for heat while I "slept it off" for a few hrs. Drove it about 7 miles home. Rebuilt it the next week with slightly bigger cam, header and new exhaust and a few other minor upgrades. Figured would be pretty rough when I opened it up, had a buddy look at the crank, he couldn't even tell which main had spun...........long story, bottom line is they're tough.
