Smile Trouble with my Tach 82 22r need a little help please

I have FINALLY fixed everything on this rig except a lagging tach. I did a search on this that only yielded results for newer yotas.
When I start the rig and get going the tach is not working and then after a few miles it begins to work but very slow. I need to either clean the grounds or run a new wire. ANY help on how to fix this would be great.
thanks

My '82 does the same thing...but only in colder (<50 degree) weather.

dont quite know where to start. I know if I trace all the wires back and do a rewire from there I can get it done but eh, thats a PITA. I was hoping there was another easier way..

My tach only works at all occasionally and most of the time it registers way higher than it really is and stays at between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm. Other times it just stays on zero. I too would like some advice on where to start.

I don't know about the lagging issue specifically, but rewiring is not that bad for that truck. I have more info at home, let me brush up this afternoon, and I will post this evening.

that would be great if you have some info. It would be nice for a change to tear something apart on this rig and at the very least have a vague idea of what is involved
