Ardent's excuse for bigger tires...

Well, when we were (that's a lot of W's) coming back from Oregon, we had a tire lose it's tread in Idaho. We made it to the side of the road and had the spare on within about 30 minutes (factory jack was frozen/rusted- luckily I brought the high-lift along).

I was hoping they'd last through the winter... Oh well, time for the 35's!!!!!!
So here are the new meats:
I think I have a leaning problem...

Oh, wait- there's something under my front tire...

They stuff quite nicely. The front doesn't look like it will rub (Thanks to the hammer and the lousy front-end flex) But the rear rubs on the top of the fender well.

315/75r16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. I'm really loving them so far (150 miles...) they're very quiet and smooth compared to the old Coopers. I don't have a lift yet, but I'm looking at solutions for the rear rubbing- small body lift, small lift, coil spacers etc. I don't have the money to lift it yet, and I'll probably regear it first.

I'll have to give French Creek another try now...

Those look real nice on your rig bud! You won't be sorry with the Duratracs! I love mine, they handle great in wet weather, snow, mud... just about everything! Not too loud but you still know you are driving on truck tires... which is the way it should be! I have 15,000miles on my Duratracs and the tire wear is excellent! They are holding up strong! Don't forget to rotate every so often!

Thanks! I'm definitely excited about these tires.

Have you re-siped yours yet? I imagine after 15k you've worn through the not-so-impressively-shallow siping. Any loss of performance if not?

Haven't re-sipped yet, although I am getting close! As far as performance goes, they are as good as the day I bought em! I have zero complaints and I was hesitant to purchase these tires because when I bought them, there was practically no information available for them. They were pretty much brand new on the market as of January 2009... at least to the best of my knowledge. Bought mine in June of 2009 and have been pleased ever since! As the rainy season approaches, I will be re-sipping, however I don't think it will be an issue of any kind. For the most part, the original sipping is still strong on all the lugs except for the outer edge mainly from cornering wear. The side tread has proved to be tremendous in protecting my sidewalls and over all ride is great both on and off-road

What the heck brand of tire is that?

Don't look like no Cooper tire I've ever seen. Are you sure they're not retreads on Cooper carcasses?

I wanna stay plenty clear of those...whatever they are.

Not retreads. They're the old style Cooper SST mud terrains. They're old. I knew they were old when I bought them, but I thought they would last a bit longer than this.

Too old to matter. It was more my mistake than theirs.

Oh well, I'm loving these duratracs! I can't get over how smooth they are.
