As cool my BudBuilt Skid Plate is, it practically made oil changes impossible to do on the 3.0 V6. With the combination of the TJM and BudBuilt, I would have to pull both just to do an oil change. So basically i'm looking to simplify things, I already ordered a Fumoto Drain Valve ( Thanks Scuba for the reference ) but anywho. Which Oil filter relocation kit should I get? not looking for anything fancy, just one that works and functions like it would be attached to the block. I found a couple on summit racing. Will this work?

Also, Where can I get some stainless steel fittings/hoses? Don't really want to use the crappy rubber hoses / barbed fittings. looking for something that wont require maintenance ( no leaks ) other than changing out the filter.

trans adapt has the pressure fittings and braided oil rated hose

 

So I called summit racing. Apparently, Trans Adapt makes single / dual oil filter relocation kits for 1984 - 95 rigs ( 22r, 22re or 3vz ) but Summit racing doesn't carry them. They're rather pricey too.

They tend to crack and leak. If I need to, I'll use them. but I'd rather have something a little more permanent and durable, that way I never need to mess with it again.

Lmao i'll be the guinea pig? I'm really debating on doing the duals with an oil cooler. mounting is the hardest part though. I wonder how cool it would run.

cooling HOT oil with HOT water..doesn't do a GREAT job, but it does help lol

 

it should be quite a bit cooler, seeing how you're moving the oil away from the block, to a more remote location, through 2 filters and an oil cooler? i'd think it would be much much cooler.

 

well it will cool it for sure...but i'm just saying it might not be worth the extra trouble.

if you want the cooling power of the stock oil cooler..then add 2 larger oil filters.

i've been told by respectable and reliable people on this board that 2 LARGER (as in longer/deeper) GOOD FILTERS..will cool just as good as the stock oil cooler.

 

This is just an idea for now. Basically the plan for now is to make oil changes doable without removing the skid. thats the ultimate goal currently. but I was thinking of going above and beyond and installing this.

mak the lines your looking for are probably gonna be hella expensive. you can always contact your local hose company to have ones made. Kinda like you would have power steering pressure hose made up.

 

oh and you wouldn't need the dual kit to add that cooler kit. you would just screw the cooler kit into the block first then the relocation kit or vise versa which ever you like the best. This is something I have been considering doing as well.

 

since i have the stock oil cooler ill prolly just do the dual filters and use the motorctaft v8 filter or a v8 sized napa gold or k&n

 

it shouldnt affect oil pressure since you will have the extra oil in there to compensate for the extra capacity.......i would think. please no frams. fram=bad.
