Trying to put a `94 A340H into a `90: how do I convert the speedometer?

Hi guys, (and gals,)

I have spent several hours searching for some answers in the hopes that I wouldn't have to start a new thread. So, my apologies in advance if the answers are already here...

Here's my issue. I have a 1990 4Runner with the 3.0 V6 and the A340H automatic transmission. The tranny is slipping pretty bad in reverse and 1st. I have a good tranny out of a `94 4Runner, and I hope to do a simple swap. But I know I am going to run into at least one issue; the `94 trans has the electronic speedometer, while the `90 is mechanical.

I am worried that there may be other incompatibilities, but I am already aware that the speed sensing is different. I could use your help... what do I need to do to put the `94 tranny in the `90?

Thanks!!
Morgan

damn, wrong way... delete

Have you tried taking the speed sensor out of the 94 and seeing if it looked the same as the end of the speedo cable on your 90?

Well, you had to go and put an excellent and obvious solution out there for me...

The tranny is in storage an hour away, but unless someone knows for sure what the procedure is for this swap, then that is clearly the best answer; just look.

Any idea if there's any other compatibility issues to be on the lookout for? Different electrical plugs, etc.?

Thanks!! I appreciate it.

I find it hard to believe that Toyota would change a casting for a different cable, or type of speed sensor...

According to Marlin, this is the electro unit. http://www.marlincrawler.com/transfe...eed-sensor-oem

And this is a pic I got off the internets...
