My check engine light just came on...

I've got an '89 pickup that I just did some work on a few weeks ago and it she was running wonderfully up until today... It is still performing as it should but my check engine light came on on my way home tonight. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to check what the error code is that's being given without having a scanner. Any way to figure it out?

Grab a paper clip, open the hood, find the diagnostic block near the fuse box. Bend the paperclip into a U shape, insert one side into T(e)1, and the other side into e1. Get in the truck turn the key to ON with no accesories running (A/C, fan, etc...) but don't start the truck. Watch the check engine light flash.

I believe the error codes are the same for most Toyotas of this era, so check this out:
