88yotaler's 1988 ext. cab 4x4 pickup 22re ***UPDATE + PICS***
*** UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM ***
So I just got this thing last week and love it! Its my first Toyota ever and I'm kicking myself for not getting one sooner. To get things started here is some info on it...
1988 extended cab pickup
208,300 miles on body
22RE ( WITH 500 MILES ON FULL REBUILD )
4x4
5spd
New clutch
New tires
New exhaust
New brakes
New battery
New stereo
I bought it from a guy who put about 5gs into it. So theres not much for me to do other than some rust repair and upgrades.
I'm planning on doing suspension, lights, bumpers, maybe a custom canopy, better stereo, K&N intake, maybe a custom grill and badges.
So the only things that I have done so far is a small section of rust repair and adjust the valves ( still breaking in new motor ). I'll keep editing as my build grows, hope you enjoy

Rust Repair

************************************************** ****UPDATE ************************************************** *****************
So I decided to get rid of all the chrome on the front of my truck today. I ended up using Rustoleum flat black for the grill and Duplicolor bed liner spray for the bumper/lip and Duplicolor rubberized undercoat, all of which where in rattle can. I found that the bed liner spray is the best, goes on easy and dries very quickly. I did about 5 coats on the bumper ,and only had enough Rustoleum to do two coats on the grill. I'll be putting in new LED bulbs so I'll put a few more coats on when I do that.
I think it looks way better all black. All I need to do now is the rear/mirrors/ and door handles and I'll be chrome free!
Here are the picks of the project. Please note that I did this all by myself this after noon and I've never had a toyota before so I'm still a noob but I'm liking getting my hands dirty
Enjoy....
