I replaced my clutch, clutch master cylinder, and slave. I tried to bleed it with the vacuum pump to no avail for about 10 minutes, then I had my wife push the pedal for about a half an hour, we were getting air out (tube from the bleed port into a jar w/ brake fluid) but the fluid level in the master cylinder never changed at any point. The lid on the master cylinder is open during all of this.

Does anyone have any idea why the fluid is not going into the system?

 

you opened the bleed fitting right?

Good evening, try and hook up the vacuum pump to the Clutch master cyl. My have to Gerry rig it but it works great. Have done it on the hard to bleed clutches and works every time.

take it back, had the same thing once. Was a bad master cylinder.

 

Twice I've bled a clutch that felt like it wouldn't bleed... Twice I walked away and came back 20-30 minutes later, and both times both were bled

 

dont use the hose and cup of brake fluid, just pump it up 30 times, hold it down, open and close the bleeder, repeat

this will use up the fluid in the reservoir and get it flowing through the system, the way you're doing it the slave is sucking brake fluid back in from the jar

both methods should work, but if one fails try the other lol

 

Not sure if your new slave cylinder came with a new bleed nipple or not but if you're reusing your old bleeder make sure it's not clogged up. I just bled my clutch yesterday and I had to take my nipple out, poke it and blow some air through it to get it to work. The slave wouldn't bleed either but I poked the hole where the bleeder screws into with small screwdriver and that caused the fluid to come out... Try poking around some more

 

Thanks guys, I ran out of time to work on it as I have to start 12 hour night shifts this evening. I think i'm going to ask Marlin Crawler (where I bought the part) if there is something special about bleeding their clutch master cylinder.

 

I'll post the solution when I come to it though

I never did get the master cyl. to bleed, I just re installed the OEM master cyl. and about 5 minutes later the slave was responding. I'm thinking Muddpigg had the answer to this one. Thanks guys.

 

With fluid in the master cylinder you should just need to crack the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder.

Fluid will flow
The fact that it didn`t tells me you have other problems .
