Is this for a Brake Controller? 2004 Tundra TRD

I know I have a towing package. Just wondering what the black thing next to the hood release is wired to. I'm guessing its for a Brake controller
Anyone?

pretty sure that's part of the security system. Does your truck have one? Does the truck have a flat 4, round 5, round 6 or round 7 trailer light connector next to the hitch? if its just a flat 4, then you just have the basic trailer wiring without a brake controller...

also, where in boulder are you? I work in boulder at a 4x4 shop. I could help if you wanted to put a controller on your truck.

I have a 7 pin on the bumper. I work near the Boulder Toyota Stealer off 47th. Where is your shop?
I didn't purchase the one thing that makes the alarm work for $500. But it was already installed by the dealer when I bought it.

John's 4x4. Just east of 63rd and arapahoe, behind carpet plus. My little brother will be starting at Boulder Toyota in december. He starts the Toyota T-TEN program in october, and will be doing his apprentice program through boulder...

and as far as the trailer wiring is concerned, a 7 pin connector can be used with or without trailer brakes. the issue is that most trailers that have a 7 pin connector have trailer brakes.

Sorry, does "what" light up? I have yet to buy the controller. My trailer has electric brakes, 7 pin from truck to trailer. Everything works/lights up properly (except I haven't tested the brakes w/o a controller).
I guess the towing package on the Tundra has left a pigtail of sorts under the left kickplate. Does anyone know if it's hanging out or tucked deep away?

thx.

never mind about the lighting up then. The pig tail should have been in the glove box when you purchased the truck. if not, i'd be willing to bet the dealer could get you one.

Where does the connection (for the tow package brake controller) reside until utilized? I'm wondering where to plug in my Prodigy--Toyota adapter to.

Found it once I found the owner's manual, under the kickplate left of the e-brake.
