Im in the process of doing some general maintenance on my 94 pickup and I have a couple of questions. First off, is there any trick to replacing the fuel filter, as far as I can tell it is a complete bitch to get to. Secondly, I hear a belt squeal sometimes and I have a hunch it is the belt connected to the air conditioning compressor. I no longer use the air conditioning cause it has many problems so can I simply just remove this belt? And finally, anyone know where I can find the layout of the fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment. I no longer have the top piece of the fuse box. Thanks

AC belt, yes you can remove that as long at the belt is not routed to another accessories, don't recall the routing on a 3rd gen truck, still haven't owned one yet

AC belt: Yes, you can cut it.

fuse box cover: Sorry, don't haver one. You try googing it?

 

yes the fuel filter sucks. ive found a great trick though, add a body lift

The belt only goes to the compressor as far as I can tell so I think im gonna go ahead and cut it.

As long as you're changing the filter, move it inside the wheel well. Bolt or zip the bracket to a bolt through the well inside the engine compartment. NOT a big deal, it's a common sense mod. Makes it REALLY easy to get to!

You're just moving the filter up a bit, inside the engine compartment, off to the side.

Don't want you to get a strange idea as to where to relocate the filter... Yes, it's up near the engine, but on the intake side.

If you mess with the fuel filter be prepared to replace some fuel lines as well that thing is usually corroded into one solid piece and taking it apart breaks things...

I replaced mine with a GM filter when I finally had to replace it. Its much easier to work with now and parts are avail. everywhere and it's easier to service now too...

 

what filter did you replace it with. I have this on my list of maintenance
