V6 Diff won't fit

I bought a V6 third member with an ARB locker in it for my 85 4runner assuming that it would drop in to my 4cyl housing. The 3rd member won't fit into the axle housing. The ring gear makes it, but the sides don't. Should I trim the housing and then assume everything will fit or do I need to switch the locker and ring and pinion to my 4cyl diff using a bearing kit for it? Thanks, Austin

ARB diffs are a TIGHT fit regardless. Every new one I've installed has needed the housing trimmed a tad.

Thanks for the quick response. Just scared me when I started putting it in and it wouldn't fit. I'll get on it after work tonight.

When i bought the high pinion third member with an ARB from marlin crawler it was a very tight fit when i went to install it, i didn`t have to trim anything to get it in, i kind of had to work it side to side and up and down and it finally slipped into the housing.
