92 4runner rear seal/bearing

I've got a 92 4runner and it's leaking oil out of the left rear. I think the bearings need replacing as well as the oil seal. I talked to my favorite mechanic and he wants a GIGANTIC amount of money to replace these. Is it really that hard? I've done them in the past on other vehicles and it was a pretty standard repair. According to the information I was given it is really tough to get them out and then reinstall.

Anybody out there performed this repair. I've done almost every other repair on this vehicle. But I've been told this one is heinous. Seems strange.
