Ok... I just dropped the motor in, got the splines/pilot bearing/input shaft lined up (I think), put 3 or 4 transmition bolts in, and go to push the clutch in, and it hits the floor with zero resistance. What gives? I crawl under the truck and the fork moves back and forth without any resistance as well, the pin that goes in the slave cylinder even fell out when I messed with it. should'nt this be held in by force? Help! this sucks, this is my daily driver!

 

Yeah you shouldn't be able to move the fork too much by hand, that thing should sit in there pretty tight. Did you forget a crucial piece? Any parts left over lol I hope you don't have to dig back in there.

 

could be a bad pressure plate, mine had a bad one and the clutch was grabbing way at the top like it was worn out, parts place gave me an exchange and that fixed mine. did it have pressure when you bolted it up to the flywheel??

 

Oh yeah, once the plate was bolted to the flywheel that thing wasnt going anywhere. Im just stumped... What should happen in my mind, because I have never done this before is, you put the motor in, the throwout bearing hits the fingers on the clutch, and locks the fork in place, thus not beaing able to move it by hand. The stupid little pin with the ball on the end of it just falls out of the slave when you move the fork. Correct me if im wrong but when clutch is in and bell housing is bolted up that pin should be locked in place.

 

Fluid in MC?

 

Pull the tranny out a couple inches (should be able to leave bolts in) and see if the fingers of the arm got into the throwout bearing. Or if you left the throwout bearing out of it. LOL

the throwout arm should definitely not be flopping around.

 

sounds like your TO bearing fell off it has happend to me

 

This morning I came outside to leave for the office and I looked under the truck and the pin with the boot was sitting on the ground. I looked at the cylinder and it was all the way open (out). I pushed back on the fork and it is definitely hitting the bearing or resting on something because I cannot push it back, but I can push it forward (moving the fork back away from the clutch assembly) so I think I just need to get the pin back in the cylinder and against the fork in its little dimple that it sits in. I will report back after work. Thank guys.

 

Hey guys, I put in the main trans bolts and sucked it flush to the bell housing ( it was only about a 1/4" away) and the clutch works. It seems like it has an awfull lot of pedal play that it did not have with the old clutch is that normal with a new clutch/pressure plate install?
