Question Broken Emergency brake ratchet

I did searches for ratchet, emergency brakes, e-brake handle.....

My brakes work fine, the e-brake handle no longer stays out, ratchiting makes no noise.
The "release" button is not stuck "in".

Also my brake light has been on and I noticed the little button under the dash that the handle when released should hit to make light go out has no "tab" to hit said switch.

Is there anyone who has worked on these that has any advise?
I'll be digging in tomorrow not even sure how far the dash has to come apart yet.
Is it a spring and lever and other fixable pieces or a riveted solid piece and R&R the unit as a whole?

Some Pics of the "tab" that hits button to shut of brake light on dash would be really cool too.

So who has some cool stories, advice and pic or two:ear

Thanks for your time.

IF you decide to get another handle from the junkyard, make sure you get one from a 4cylinder. The 6 cylinders are different or whatever engine that you have.

Thanks a bunch...
You just saved me about 2 hours of time, driving and tinkering.

I had plans on pulling one out of an 89 runner w/ a 6 vs a 4

Any other thoughts

Send me a PM. I can most likely get you a whole handle assembly.
