85 Runner with electrical probs. reasonable mechanic in Sacramento area

My buddy with an 85 runner just moved to Roseville, CA. It's having some electrical issues that need to be gone through. The previous owner of the runner had installed a ridiculous stereo system and a cheesy alarm, all of which seemed to be hack jobs. I figured I'd see if you guys know any reasonable yota mechanics in the Sac area?

Thanks,

Dave

what kind of electrical issues is it having? I live in Roseville, California. If I cant figure it out I usually go to Honest Engine of Roseville. Its located on riverside. basically go through old roseville towards roseville road. and it'll be right next to the gas station near all the car dealerships.

It has a slow drain. He installed a new yellow top Optima and a new alternator when he purchased the vehicle, and it still won't start after a day or two of sitting.

sounds like something isn't turning off when the car is off... maybe a light or something. it could have something to do with the stereo, not sure though.

Did he yank the alarm and stereo or is it still in there?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it's somehow related to the crappy wiring job from the previous owner. The stereo is out I think, but not sure about the alarm. Gotta love electrical work! lol

lol yeah. I wouldn't take something as simple as an electrical gremlin to Honest Engine... they charge 90 an hour... its just not worth it for something so small...

Thanks for the input. My buddy doesn't really have the time right now to work on it himself, but would like to get it fixed soon. Anyone know anybody else in the Sac area that isn't really expensive? (I know you usually get what you pay for, but I figure there are A LOT of qualified people out of work who could use a side job!)

try pulling the fuses to the components that you suspect are causing the problem, that might help to narrow it down.
