Body Lift Install help
hey,
All bolts are taken out, steering linkage is loose, and front bumper is off, however it will not lift off the frame, have read 4Crawler's instructions but it doesn't show anything.
Is there something I'm missing?
All 10 body mounts are off, 92 4Runner SR5, what could it be?
What did I miss?
Is there a trick to it?
doing Research and searching now but nothing is standing out?

If posible (I know it might be hard) try to get ahold of a air jack. I dont know where you could rent one around there. With the air jack you can lift it behind the front tire and in front of the rear. When I did mine thats what I had to do and it took a couple of trys going up and down cause the body had been on there since 87. Or maybe get a couple of friends to rock it up and down like your going to "pick" the rig up and maybe it will break free.

How big a BL are you trying to put on? I never had any problems installing mine last year. But it was only 1". What I did, was jack up the side I was working on. But I will admit, my BEAST is a 2nd gen......

I normally have access to an lift, 4 post, scissor, etc.. But I chose to do this at a home, I am doing the drivers side first and no, i have not taken the radiator loose yet, it's attached to the body right? Then I've got the full kit from Roger so I'm going to lower it back after I've lifted it, I was thining it might just be on there kinda tight because of 208k of abuse she's taken, I will go over everything again this evening with a fine tooth comb, and pop it up hopefully wiht Ease shortly after I get home, then throw the 2 inch pucks in and get er done
Thanks, keep the ideas coming as I'm not sure yet you know.

you know whats funny... i had the SAME problem with my 3rd gen 4runner. I unbolted all 10 bolts... and I was in a bay with a lift and I used a hydraulic floor jack and still had problems separating the the frame and body. I only have a 1inch Body Lift but the fact that the body didn't separate from the frame is what I'm concerned about... I couldn't figure it out.... and i still don't know

When I did mine 1" last year, I loosened all the bolts, and just used a 12 ton bottle jack, and some 6x6 pads. Took me only a couple of hours with smoke and coffee braks. Sorry to hear your having a tough time, bro. If you lived a bit closer, I'd come lend ya a hand......I live in Cougar......

how far have you lifted it? I did mine 2 weeks ago, and it seemed like it would never start to seperate. Remember, you still have to overcome the suspension being relieved of the weight of the body and then lift another 3 inches to be able to get in there and do the work. I recommend dropping the bolts back in on the pass. side just to help make sure the body doesn't want to slide off while working on the driver side.

here's mine at full tilt (one side installed)

Done, need to do the bumper relocation and radiator drop but won't have time tomrrow so Wednesday finish, Thursday pic's probably.
It was a combo of being 208k on it, and not unloading the suspension all the way, those Cruiser Coils are FLEXY...

working on mine right now...anyone have any advice on the steering linkage and all that other crap??? Mines an 87, bought the 3" body lift from rough country (actually a performance accessories kit though). have had it for a month and just now getting around to installing it. busted out the instructions and DAMN!!! this looks to be the most technical freakin body lift out there....i dont understand the instructions when they are telling me to drill holes in the steering shaft and install roll pins and ˟˟˟˟....dont get it. and they want me to lengthen the steering shaft too....by 1 1/8"...if i did that, my steering shaft would not be attached to the steering wheel...so confused and frustrated...i put a 2" body lift on my chev pickup and had nowhere near these kinds of problems.
