2wd vs 4wd fenders

I just bought a 1982 short bed reg cab 4x4. Fenders are pretty bad. My question is this: Is there a differance between 2wd and 4wd fenders?

Thanks John

2wd fenders don't have near as big a flare on them to cover the tires..

That was kind of my thinking. I went to keystone auto. The drivers side is like 33 dollars and the passenger side is 120. Why such a big swing?

What do you mean? They're charging more for one side than the other? There's no difference from side to side, so I don't know what's up with that.

i would imagine it's because most accidents happen on the passenger side so they're harder to get

Really? So a left side will fit on the right eh?

I think I get what you were saying, but it came out worded wrong lol. One side may cost more than the other to make? I dunno for sure. Sometimes things are priced based on supply/demand. If there is high demand, and low supply, obviously the price goes up.

As for difference between 2WD and 4WD, yes they are completely different. The way the headlight buckets mount, the side marker lights, and obviously the amount of flare are all factors.

I think what he was saying is " supply and demand" usually sets pricing ..
not that the sides are interchangeable . obviously the right side fender wont fit on the left side !!!

2wd fenders are a DIRECT replacement and will absolutly fit . ONLY the flare , mud flap and inner splah shield are different .. headlamp doors are the same and will fit .
it is a VERY common swap for the 2wds to go to the 4WD fender .. not so much the other way

.

I know first hand that the marker lights are different on the 92 models if that's any consolation. I'm running 91 2wd fenders on a 92 4wd. Really didn't notice until I went to install the marker lights. But yes the 2wd are not flared like the 4wd are.

Soooo Now I have the right in the left and left in the right. Now I have to watch when I turn the blink different.

I know, I just had to give him a hard time

Good to know the fenders are basically the same. I know that the later model fenders can do that, but wasn't 100% sure on the earlier fenders. I have seen people put the 4WD fenders on their 2WD street trucks though.

I imagine the price difference is the quality
there usually is not more than a few dollars
swing between left and right

i noticed that some fenders were like 30 and some
120. Difference is if it is a cerrified piece or not

i bet a 30 fender fits
like crap
