Hi. I am thinking of getting a pre 83 4x4. I have always wanted to do a 3sge redtop swap. I am getting out the the mr2s. I would rather do a Blacktop swap for the rarity of it.

The 83 comes with a L52 (what I am looking at).

I know in the mr2 it came with a s54 tranny. Which is compatiable with the e153.

I am pretty sure the celica use the same tranny.

The Altezza blacktop was never imported to the us. It came 6-speed. I am not sure what the tranny code is.

Any info would be nice. My goal is a nice daily driver. I think the hardest thing would be finding a transmission etc.

I'm not sure I understand why you'd want to put a peaky (high rev) motor in a 4wd truck that needs torque?

LOL! I know it was a crazy idea. I like the 22r, it has it's own style. Feels like a TAAAAAAAAAAANK! With the right gearing, I like it the way it is.
