Spare tire fitment

I have an 85 runner and looking to put a spare tire back on. Will a 33x10.5x15 tire fit under in the stock location. It looks like the exhaust will need modification but is there anything else to worry about. I'm going to stuff this tire on a stock SR5 wheel. TIA
Eric

Let us know if it works. I've been leaning towards a 33 x 9.5.

Here's some reading - scroll down to Spare Tire Options:

I fit my 33x10.5x15 km2 under the bed of my 84 pickup. The tire *just* touches the r/r shackle, and I added a small heat shield between the exhaust pipe and the tire at the closest point.

Yep, both those sizes will fit:

Move the exhaust over and then I find I need to carefully center the tire to clear the shackle bolts on each side and also pull it slightly back to clear the e-brake cable mechanism on the rear axle (if you don't do that the e-brake won't engage).

Thanks for the info. Now I feel more confident with a tire purchase.

I'm dealing with this now and I see 4Crawler had to notch the tailgate to get the rod to fit into the chain crank. I'm trying to put my 31x10.5 under there but I need to notch the tailgate get get the crank rod to fit. I think I'd really like to mount the tire in the bed using the role bar as a mount somehow, preferably vertically on the driver side so I can still see out the left rear corner.
