Hey guys! I just bought a 1984 4runner with a 22r motor! I also bought a newly rebuilt EFI 22re motor with the fuel injection already on it. I also bought an uncut wiring harness out of a 1988 4runner. I have heard I need to get the fuel pump or the gas tank out of an EFI truck due to the different fuel pressure with EFI. Also I heard I need the ECU, does it matter what year it comes from! With all of this, how hard is it going to be to swap and is there anything else I will need to make the swap successful? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me......

 

You will need the computer and injectors for the 88 wiring harness, not all computers and injectors are the same, some are year specific. You will also need the efi gas tank and fuel lines, other than that all you need is time to get it done.

 

The motor i bought is a 88 block with 88 injectors so those match the harness! Why new fuel lines? and what do you think about an external fuel pump on the frame rail? Someone also told me that I need to add some relays and modify the fues box, what do you think? Thanks for your help........

 

well the relays are for pressue, like when u turn the key on the fuel pump cuts off after a second because it built pressue, a donor vehicle is ur best bet and just swap everything
